On 16 October 2024, SpaceSUITE’s project coordinator, GISIG, and project partner, Eurisy, attended the International Astronautical Congress 2024 in Milan, Italy, which welcomed more than 10.000 experts from the space industry, research and the institutions, and presented the SpaceSUITE project to a large space community.

SpaceSUITE was presented during the “Enabling the Future: Developing the Space Workforce” session with a presentation entitled “Bridging the Gap Between the Supply and Demand of Skills in the Downstream Space Sector”.

The interactive presentation introduced the SpaceSUITE project and its objective to develop a programme and innovative platform, based on a shared ontology-based Body of Knowldege, aiming to supply the required skills and curricula to achieve the goals of the EU in the aerospace and defense ecosystem. It also presented the project’s core activities, namely:

  • Skills Intelligence: preparing a comprehensive assessment of the existing skills and gaps identification.
  • Skills Strategy: providing details on the way major trends are expected to impact skills needs, and a detailed timeline, list of activities, milestones and expected outputs.
  • Training Actions: based on professional training material related to: Earth Observation & Geoinformation, Positioning Navigation & Timing, Satellite Communication.
  • Open Space Academy: embedding skills development in academic activities and providing guidance to candidate learners.

Moreover, the presentation included a short overview of the two preliminary results:

  • The definition of personas for targeted training.
  • The methodology for the development of skills Intelligence.

The attendance of SpaceSUITE at the IAC 2024 represented a great opportunity to disseminate the project’s preliminary results.
